The Seelenplatz in Cobbenrode: a bench inside a heart sculpture overlooking mist in the valley

The new ‘Seelenort’ (place for the soul) in Cobbenrode

- a "place of power" that brings together nature, peace and inspiration

Even the way there is an experience, the initiators promise: The roughly 350-metre Path of Colours leads to the Seelenplatz. Four stations along the way invite you to discover the meaning of colours – which is anything but clear-cut. “What is considered positive in one culture can have negative connotations in another. Colours influence our perception and emotions, and that is exactly what you can experience here,” explain the initiators from the Trinkerklub.

At the end of the path lies the Seelenplatz, a place “with a very special atmosphere – hard to describe, but instantly noticeable. Here you can recharge your energy, refill your inner batteries and simply unwind. Take a seat on the cosy Sauerland relaxation swing and let your gaze wander over Cobbenrode and the Sauerland – or retreat into an oversized beer barrel and enjoy nature,” say the initiators of the project, which received €20,000 in LEADER funding.

But the Seelenplatz is not just a place for inner peace; it also meets practical needs: thanks to support from Westenergie, the barrel seat has been fitted with a solar panel and a charging station, so you can charge your smartphone too. In an emergency, a QR code helps: the “Hilfe im Wald?” (Help in the forest?) app determines your location and lets you call for help via the Sauerland rescue point.

The hikers’ car park on the B55 at Schwartmecke, right next to Landgasthof Willmes “Zur schönen Aussicht”, is the starting point for this little break. “From there, simply follow the signs – the path is suitable for pushchairs and rollators.”

A new Seelenplatz where you can recharge your "batteries" for everyday life.

Circular hike with a place to stop for refreshments

Cobbenrode - Arpe - Cobbenrode

We warmly recommend this wonderful route with plenty of great views:

You can stop for refreshments at Gasthof Voss in Arpe – closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Or start directly in Arpe and explore the "Lauschpohlweg" trail. A great experience with children, too.
